INTRODUCTION
Global Empowerment Incubator [G.E.I] is a non-profit grassroots organization that was born in 2020 and is dedicated to ending extreme poverty in rural communities in the Western region, of Kenya through entrepreneurship, financial literacy skills, innovation, and value addition.
G.E.I identified that though there were many interventions in the Empowerment sector, there was little impact on the plight of the rural women and girls. It's in this realization that G.E.I came into being, primarily to mainstream women socio's empowerment activities with a focus on rural women in the development sector through advocacy, entrepreneurship, innovation, information sharing, action implementation, and strengthening of rural economic inclusion ventures through continuous mentorship of programs hence graduations.
G.E.I as a staunch member of the Kisumu County Gender Sector working group under the Economic Inclusion thematic area, has continued to expand its collaboration and networking with like-minded partners and members like County Government and National Governments, Government departments, and allied Government institutions and agencies.
G.E.I has also been represented in major forums organized by different stakeholders in the thematic areas of Socioeconomic inclusion, Education, Gender, S.R.H.R, Water and Sanitation, and Health and Human rights.
IMPACT
Lives of rural community members have been impacted positively with the majority being women and young girls from extremely poor households who enrolled in our economic inclusion program by forming V.S.L.A groups and enjoying the benefits that come from those V.S.L.A such as access to loans, savings, financial literacy skills, record keeping skills, market linkages, business start-up skills, linkages to government affirmative action funds and continuous mentorship of their business growth and health.
This was made possible due to the numerous strategies that were adopted by G.E.I across all the intervention areas which included but were not limited to social mobilization, awareness creation, community conversations, capacity building of our participants, networking, and collaboration
PROJECT AREAS:
GEI is implementing its economic inclusion interventions in the western region of Kenya working in partnership and collaborating with Government Agencies and Institutions in addition to networking locally, regionally, and internationally.
